FEBRUARY 1 -- FEBRUARY 7: This is a good week to be patient and to keep breathing because it's going to be extremely tough to get things done. Monday starts off on a bumpy note with a Virgo Moon straining against the Sun, Venus, and Neptune; the Moon is also involved in a face-off with contrary Uranus. The best way to navigate this celestial obstacle course is to pick your battles. Be as flexible as possible and prepare to make a lot of adjustments. There is a small energy shift on Tuesday, when the Moon moves into conciliatory Libra. Unfortunately, the general atmosphere doesn't get a whole lot better. The alignment of the Libra Moon pairing with Saturn and then bumping up against Pluto takes the obstacle course in a different, and more difficult, direction. Do your best to cultivate patience and persistence; they're the only virtues that will see you through this maze. The gridlock opens up on Wednesday, when the Sun and Moon harmonize in corresponding air signs. The light is green again and it's safe to resume normal social and intellectual activities. Enjoy the break because that's what it is. Thursday looks like another tough slog as the intense Scorpio Moon takes on the two bad boys of the zodiac, Saturn and Mars. One thing is for certain with this combination: "somebody" will be gnashing their teeth and/or climbing the walls over a frustration that they can't do anything about. The week comes to a full stop on Sunday with Super Bowl XLIV. Although no firm predictions are possible at this time, what can be said is that with the Moon in the sign of adventure sports (Sagittarius) in harmony with Mars (competitive spirit), this game should have plenty of action and prove to be one of the more exciting Super Bowl games. Ties between Venus and Neptune are an indication that the nice guys (whichever team that is) will not be able to hold their focus during the game and, thus, will lose this championship competition.
FEBRUARY 1: As February begins, we need to control our current doubts by changing our usual routine. "The actual schedule of the day may have to be drastically rearranged to make way for (meditation)." Elizabeth Hunter. We think more clearly on Monday afternoon, a good time to do effective work. Expect delays later. Avoid taking unusual risks late today.
FEBRUARY 2: Tuesday's first aspect doesn't favor harmonious meditation -- don't try to force the process. It's Groundhog Day. New ideas are positive. The Moon in Cardinal Libra, a strong place for Venus, begins a pleasant morning. This afternoon expect change. "Preserve the old, but know the new." Chinese Proverb. Look for the positive impact of Pluto.
FEBRUARY 3: Nature's harmony benefits the weather as well as our moods early on Wednesday. We expect lucky events this morning. Much later we enjoy sociable contacts, but our judgment is blurred tonight -- take it easy, and go with the intuitive suggestions of Neptune.
FEBRUARY 4: Thursday begins with a rather negative mental outlook. Soon we are calm, meditative. "If meditation is done regularly, the potential for intuitive work is high." Jhampa Shaneman & Jan. V. Angel. The Moon in Fixed Scorpio, a strong place for Pluto and Mars, gives us new willpower. Expect pleasant benefits tonight, as well as a calm attitude and the emotional poise to enjoy them. Evening is a favorable time to cooperate with those around us.
FEBRUARY 5: Very early Friday there is conflict in events, as well as in our thinking. Don't expect financial success today. The Last Quarter Moon matures early this evening. It's a good time to reflect on important ideas.
FEBRUARY 6: Saturday begins with unusually helpful ideas, and good plans for the day. We're not emotionally poised this morning, and tend to disagree with those we love. Go with the new ideas that came up earlier, as these offer chances for innovation and opportunities to take independent steps. Neptune misleads us at midday, so avoid scams. Concentrate on important subjects, and on chances to make active changes. The Moon in Mutable Sagittarius offers adventure, and new beliefs.
FEBRUARY 7: Sunday begins peacefully, with a confident feeling that it will be an interesting day. The Moon aspects Jupiter, and "there is a need to recognize a harmful situation before it develops." Shaneman and Angel. The aspects mature before noon, an active time.

FEBRUARY 8 -- FEBRUARY 14: Most of this week's action is focused on the weekend but two planets change signs midweek and that could shake up your world. On Wednesday, Mercury leaves Capricorn, where the communication focus has been centered on duties and responsibilities, and enters into individualistic Aquarius. With Mercury in Aquarius, the next three weeks are perfect to leave the past behind and put initiatives in place. On Thursday, Venus moves out of Aquarius and into Pisces for a month-long visit. Venus is very much at home in this compassionate water sign and this residency will offer many opportunities for us to be more sympathetic to the less fortunate.
NOTE TO ARTISTS OF ALL TYPES: Venus in Pisces is one of the most creative placements of the year. On Saturday the Aquarius New Moon marks the beginning of the two-week waxing phase that is the best time in February to make a new start on anything. Aquarius symbolizes the concept that all people are one and are connected to a much bigger picture. The Aquarius New Moon also marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year; it's the year of the metal tiger. The tiger is considered lucky and contains natural energies that are assertive, courageous, and self-reliant. The element of metal gives the tiger year an edge as well as speed of thought. Since tigers are also vain, you must be careful not to jump too quickly to conclusions without weighing options or understanding the consequences. There's plenty of enchantment on Valentine's Day, which happens this Sunday. With the Sun coupled to Neptune there is a good chance that your very own Mr. or Ms. McDreamy will appear out of the blue and make all your fantasies come true.
February 8: Very early Monday we appreciate the beautiful side of nature. It is a pleasant morning. Much later, avoid haste, and high-tech glitches. Late today, the Moon is at its southerly maximum, a turnaround time for moods as well as events. We're romantic tonight.
February 9: Our thinking is fairly active as aspects begin early on Tuesday. The Moon in Cardinal Capricorn encourages steady work, and a practical approach to events. Expect delay early this afternoon. Important changes affect all of us today. We feel rather fortunate later -- be alert in order to take advantage of opportunities. Be calm.
February 10: Artistic ideas and meditation are favored on this Wednesday morning. Mercury enters Aquarius, a favorable place for innovative ideas. Political activity also attracts our attention. Avoid anger and conflict later.
February 11: Thursday's early day is rather mild for the season. Venus moves into Pisces, giving a warm personal feeling to our relationships. Morning hours encourage clear thinking, a good mental outlook. We're independent, innovative. "I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free." Charles Dickens, b. Feb. 7, 1812. (Bleak House). Day ends with friendly events and interesting news as well as ideas.
February 12: Important changes set the mood early Friday. The Moon-Saturn trine helps maintain a calm outlook to begin the day (Lincoln's Birthday). We meet changeable conditions throughout the day. Moon-Mars: "You are constantly involved in crises in the relationships in your life." Robert Pelletier. Late today, lunar apogee is a time of emotional stress.
February 13: Saturday, a New Moon day, begins with verbal conflict. Postpone important contacts. The early-day lunar parallels offer pleasant natural events, and chances for meditation. Take advantage of innovative insights later. We communicate well with those we meet late this morning. Special insights are important early in the afternoon. Schedule social events then. Expect new opportunities with Moon-Uranus. The New Moon in Aquarius brings bright ideas. "It is the riches of the mind only that make a man rich and happy." Proverb (The Penguin Dictionary of Proverbs).
February 14: Sunday, Valentine's Day, the Moon enters Mutable Pisces very early -- the day's loving meaning is pleasantly increased! There are mild personal conflicts this morning and early afternoon but on the whole it is a day for friendship, and exchanging romantic messages (see Moon-Venus late afternoon). Late afternoon and evening should be the most special times today. Friendship and love are benefited. Evening hours offer spiritual inspiration. "Spirit is a land of high, white peaks and glittering jewel-like lakes and flowers." Tenzin Glatso.

FEBRUARY 15 -- FEBRUARY 21: On Monday, Mars and Saturn move into position to make nice with each other for the next six weeks. This movement signals the end is near for the congestion that has been occurring with Mars moving in backward motion since the beginning of the year. No matter how auspicious the aspect, when dealing with Mars and Saturn, it is always wise to move slowly and use caution. Things lighten up a bit on Tuesday as Venus and Jupiter, representing love/joy or money/abundance, join together in perfect harmony. On Thursday, the Sun leaves the unique but emotionally chilly atmosphere of Aquarius for the watery ocean of emotional Pisces, where dreams are given substance. For the next thirty days solar energy will be focused on all areas of a Piscean nature. Some examples of these include all kinds of charitable work; positive, neutral, and negative forms of escape; following your dreams and schemes, and trying to bring projects or ideas to conclusion. The week closes on a stubborn note with a short but intense sparring match between the outer masculine world, represented by the Sun, and the inner feminine world, represented by the Moon. The result could be a slightly uncomfortable feeling that things are not going in the right direction and there is no clear way out at the moment. Luckily, the forecast looks like clearer skies for tomorrow.
FEBRUARY 15: Monday, President's Day, a holiday in many places, some of yesterday's aura of friendship lingers. We begin projects that are our favorite choices. The Moon on the celestial equator later adds stress.
FEBRUARY 16: We begin Tuesday with a practical, calm attitude. Late this morning, Uranus is active, at first encouraging us to try new things and then telling us not to take dangerous risks. At midday we have the chance to meditate, and to imagine various scenarios. Weather is fairly calm this afternoon. The Moon in Cardinal Aries gives extra energy. Personal contacts are warm later.
FEBRUARY 17: Today, Ash Wednesday on the religious calendar, we begin the day with conflicting energies, and we want to be active but time slows us down. Moon-Pluto: "Transforming Pluto makes us want to do away with limitations in order to rule the situation ourselves." Karen Hamaker-Zondag. Jupiter gives the day spiritual overtones. Avoid boasting as well as personal conflicts this evening. Be more cheerful.
FEBRUARY 18: Early Thursday we resolve personal conflicts, and are optimistic about a loved one. Conditions are rather stormy early. Don't expect unusual insights with Moon-Neptune. The Sun enters Pisces, the sign which indicates "a patient, comfort-loving and philosophical person." Reinhold Ebertin. Experience spirituality.
FEBRUARY 19: The Moon moves to Fixed Taurus Friday Morning, a strong place for Venus. We have emotional stamina now. Anger is a problem late this morning. Think calm thoughts, and choose peaceful activities. Pluto is active later today. "(Pluto) is often the planet of the 'healing crisis'." C.E.O. Carter. The changes Pluto introduces can be positive. Take extra time to communicate clearly later, as Mercury and Pluto urge us to express ourselves well. Evening is pleasant.
FEBRUARY 20: We enjoy close personal relationships early Saturday. Shun activities that require shrewd thinking today. Later, relax, and avoid being overactive.
FEBRUARY 21: Sunday, a First Quarter Moon day, we begin the morning with plans for new events. Don't be misled by Neptune, though, as not all ideas that appear to have spiritual value offer insight. The Moon in Mutable Gemini, as strong place for Mercury, give the day much variety, and interesting learning experiences. The First Quarter Moon is a time that seems to demand action. Try to choose positive activities and take practical steps rather than physical or mental risks. Stay calm later.

FEBRUARY 22 -- FEBRUARY 28: Monday is a good day for communications with the Moon in the air sign of Gemini in perfect synch with Mercury, the messenger planet. The mood shifts early Wednesday when the Moon moves into Cancer and opposes Pluto. Expect emotional encounters over responsibilities at work versus duties at home and to the family. But on Friday the emotional tide ebbs away as the Leo Moon glides into creative harmony with the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter. On Saturday there are two effects from Mercury's fusion with Neptune in Aquarius. The first result is fuzzy thinking. Aquarius is an energy that can be highly rational but at the same time is not very reasonable. This alignment with Mercury-Neptune makes it easy to jump to the wrong conclusion while being absolutely certain you're right. The second result is an increase in psychic awareness as right-brain perceptions sharpen while the left-brain analytical activity is reduced. This leads to knowing the right answer without going through the thinking process. The puzzle is whether to believe the first conclusion or the second. The week comes to an end with a Virgo Full Moon on Sunday. This Full Moon marks the beginning of a two-week deconstruction phase. The Full Moon in Virgo offers a once-a-year opportunity to organize your life so that you can be more productive and to heal your body, mind, or spirit. Under Virgo the areas that are most affected are work, health, and small pets. Be careful not to overdo it, because with Jupiter in the picture next to the Sun there will be plenty of temptations to go over the top during the clean-up phase. The two-week waning phase after the Full Moon is a good time to bring projects to completion and to reflect on what has been accomplished. It is also the best time of the month to begin treatments that reduce or eliminate.
SPECIAL ATTENTION: Since blood levels and emotions are at their monthly high, elective surgeries should not be scheduled between February 25 and March 3.
FEBRUARY 22: Monday, George Washington's birthday, postpone major hopes and social events for another time.
FEBRUARY 23: We're mentally active very early Tuesday. "The universe is transformation; our life is what our thoughts make it." Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. Thinking helps us if we avoid wildly innovative projects. The Moon in Cardinal Cancer, the Moon's strong place, increases our emotional breadth later today. Rest later tonight as Saturn slows the pace.
FEBRUARY 24: Moon-Pluto changes our outlook early Wednesday. The morning on the whole is positive and encouraging. "Fortune favors the brave." Terence, c. 195-159 B.C. We're active at midday. Much later the Moon-Venus aspect improves friendship and love tonight.
FEBRUARY 25: We feel very optimistic as Thursday begins. Later there are some communication problems. At midday our thoughts are innovative, and useful for the day's activities. Physical effort is more successful than meditation this afternoon. The Moon in Fixed Leo, the Sun's strong place, adds to our confidence and vigor.
FEBRUARY 26: Friday begins calmly, and we have definite plans for the day. Pluto may sidetrack us with worries about change. There are three quincunxes. "The quincunx (helps us) bring something to our attention so that we can deal with it." Sue Thompkins. Astrologers have varying opinions about the strength of the quincunx. Day ends with new ideas, conversations.
FEBRUARY 27: Saturday's aspects seem to overlook the need for doing ordinary chores, and emphasizing imaginative spiritual conditions. Mercury-Neptune is a blend of conscious and intuitive factors. "When the sun of awareness shines on the river of our perceptions, the mind is transformed." Thich Nhat Hanh. Later both Neptune and Mercury act negatively on our emotions. The Moon enters Mutable Virgo tonight, so our concentration improves. Late today lunar perigee tends to stir up emotions. We feel energetic tonight.
FEBRUARY 28: Sunday, a Full Moon day, we begin with sensible plans for the day. The Moon's daily motion is quickest for the month today. We seek public contacts early. Sun-Jupiter offers hope and optimism, and benefits our sympathies for others. The Full Moon activates conflicts between clear thinking (Virgo) and emotional sensitivity (Pisces). Find a peaceful view.
FEBRUARY OVERVIEW: Mars, the action planet, spends the entire month traveling retrograde in the sign of Leo. This is an excellent time to pause and figure out what your next move should be, as you may need to shift your priorities. Two powerful planets, Mars and Saturn are linked together by a helpful sextile aspect, and although both planets are retrograde, they provide opportunities for the taking. These opportunities will not fall in your lap, so you have to look for them and make a real effort to pursue them. To gain the most benefit from them, however, you have to move deliberately and cautiously in matters associated with the chart sectors Mars is transiting. If you use your energy and the knowledge gained through past experience wisely, you can lay the groundwork for future triumphs.
Now that Jupiter has entered Pisces, you may be more psychic or sensitive to the needs of other people, and that they in turn are more sensitive to your needs. This transit encourages spiritual growth and exploration, so be open to learning about different beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles. You may be surprised by what you discover! A helpful Jupiter alignment with Pluto occurs on (February 6) when these two planets form a sextile. Two other sextiles occur that same day, and you can use these to improve yourself or your situation. Look for opportunities you can use to your advantage. If you are alert, you may be able to gain more control over yourself or your career, health or destiny.
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR: The New Moon in Aquarius on (February 13) marks the start of the Chinese New Year in mainland US time zones. This is the Year of the Tiger, and it lasts until (February 1, 2011). Chinese astrology is based on a lunar calendar with twelve "signs," each one of which is symbolized by an animal. According to the oriental tradition, during the Year of the Tiger, you should work hard, face challenges bravely, and use your leadership abilities.
Tiger years can be turbulent and hard on the emotions. Issues rise to the surface, whether good or bad. Situations can change quickly and dramatically. Some people enjoy great gains; others experience great losses. The people who do best are self-motivated or naturally intuitive. Keep in mind that tigers enjoy being playful at times, so schedule periodic breaks from your work and routine through this Chinese year (or throughout any year, for that matter).

NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS ON FEBRUARY 13: With the New Moon in your solar ninth house, you may get opportunities to both learn and teach at the same time. Don't be surprised if someone wants to mentor you and show you the ropes in some respect. This month is the perfect time to learn new skills, especially those that will enable you to forge a new professional direction. On the other hand, you may decide to become a mentor yourself, and extend to others the benefits of your own experience. Take advantage of this exciting time.
JUPITER'S GIFT TO YOU IN 2010: There is good news in the Cosmos! Jupiter, the planet of blessings, is in lyrical Pisces for much of 2010, bestowing good cheer and positive vibrations in the area of life he influences. Certainly that gives us all reason to celebrate!
Jupiter is the planet that is connected with good fortune and good luck. Do you remember the jovial soul who represents the Ghost of Christmas Present in Charles Dickens' famous story A Christmas Carol? He is depicted as having a hearty laugh and carrying a large cornucopia filled with flowers, fruits and sweet treats. That is very much like the traditional image we have of Jupiter, as it brings with it high spirits, positive energy, and a cornucopia of opportunities. This is the planet that encourages us to make lemonade out of lemons, and gives us the sugar to make that drink as sweet as it possibly can be.
Jupiter also encourages our natural urge to explore the world in a very personal way, engaging directly in the life we see around us. But Jupiter is also the spiritual planet, the one most involved with our religious life, and our philosophical musings. When we question the world around us, and debate the whys and wherefores of existence, or ponder what our mission in life might be, it is Jupiter that brings us to ask such questions.
Jupiter is considered to be the beneficial planet, but of course every planet has both positive and negative qualities, even a planet as prone to looking at the bright side of life as Jupiter. Jupiter is also the planet of excess, extravagance, and exaggeration, so definitely keep that in mind!
For most of 2010, Jupiter will be in the mystical, artistic and creative sign symbolized by two fish swimming in different directions. It's safe to say that no matter how Jupiter affects your personal natal chart, you will be filled with incandescent dreams and visions for your life, with a very good idea of how to make those dreams come true! Jupiter usually takes one year to complete his orbit in a particular zodiac sign, taking twelve years to go through the entire constellation of Sun signs. In 2010, Jupiter will work his way through Pisces, then enter Aries, and then backtrack into Pisces once more. Jupiter entered Pisces on (January 17, 2010) and stays there until (June 5, 2010), when he enters Aries for the next three months. Jupiter then goes retrograde, re-entering Pisces on (September 8, 2010), where he stays through (January 21, 2011).
